To obtain a certified copy of a marriage, civil union, death, or birth record please submit a letter of request to us. This letter should contain the person's name and date of record. It is also necessary for you to send us a photocopy of your driver's license or birth certificate for identification purposes. Send a letter of request to our office at 850 Fairfax, P.O. Box 308, Carlyle, IL 62231. Please make the check or money order payable to the Clinton County Clerk. Prices are as of July 1, 2012 and are subject to change.

To apply for an assumed name certificate the business owner must fill out a form. This form can be obtained from our office in person or by mail. The fee for filing for this certificate is $5.00.After it is filed in our office it must be published for three consecutive weeks in the newspaper of your choice in Clinton County. Publication cost will be your responsibility. After we receive the certificate of publication from the paper, we in turn will send you an Assumed Name Certificate.

Must be a United States Citizen
Must be 18 years of age before the next election
Must be a resident of Illinois for 30 days before the election

5. Mail-when registering by mail, you can not vote an absentee ballot for the first time only. Contact the County Clerk's office for forms.
To apply for a county liquor license the business owner must fill out an application form. This form is obtained from our office in person or by mail. After the application is completed, the sheriff's office does a background check on the applicant. If there are no problems a liquor license is issued. The cost of the license varies with the closing time requested. Yearly liquor licenses expire on June 30th annually and must be reapplied for each year.Beer only single event license is also available.
Birth records begin in 1877.
Death records begin in 1877.
Marriage or Civil Union records begin 1874.
You may have birth records that are 75 years old or older.
You may have death records that are 20 years old or older.
You may have marriage records that are 50 years old or older.
*Fee for a record search is $10.00 and if a record is found a copy is sent.
To obtain a marriage or civil union license the couple must come to the office to answer license questions. A photo identification is required. Both parties must sign the license. You must get your license at least one day before your ceremony and be used within 60 days. The license is obtained in the county where the ceremony will take place. The fee for a marriage or civil union license is $21.00. No blood test required.
